PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT MOSS NOOK PHASE 2

Welcome to the Consultation Website for the Proposed development of Moss Nook Phase 2

Welcome

Welcome to the Consultation Website for Harworth Groups proposals for a brand new outdoor sports facility on land at Cromdale Grove Recreation Ground which forms the second phase of development at Moss Nook, St Helens.

Background

Harworth Group is re-developing the Moss Nook site and is delighted to reveal our proposals for a brand new, high quality outdoor sports facility on land at Cromdale Grove Recreation Ground.

The Moss Nook site is an allocated regeneration site in St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council’s (SHBC) adopted Local Plan and has planning permission for its comprehensive re-development. The Moss Nook development aims to create much needed new housing, as well as improved connectivity, new public open space, new playing pitches and associated infrastructure, with a small commercial/retail area close to Sutton Road.

Harworth’s Masterplan for the Moss Nook development can be viewed here.

The first phase of re-development at the site is well underway, with 258 new homes currently under construction by Taylor Wimpey and a new spine road between Watery Lane and Sutton Road – Provenance Avenue – opened in December 2022. We’ve also completed groundwork preparations for further housing to the north of Provenance Avenue.

We are now looking to deliver the second phase of development at Moss Nook (Phase 2), which comprises new sports pitches, changing facilities and associated infrastructure. The planning permission requires the existing outdoor sports provision at Beechams Playing Fields (Phase 4), currently used by Penlake Juniors AFC, to be re-provided on land at Cromdale Grove Recreation Ground (Phase 2) prior to commencement of residential development on Phase 4.

THE SITE

The relocation of Penlake Juniors FC has been proposed for many years and the Club is delighted that the project is now moving forward.  We have provided information to Harworth setting out the Club’s aspirations for the project and we are pleased to see this reflected in these new proposals. I know our members will really appreciate this major investment into the new and improved facilities the project will deliver.”

– Football Club Secretary, Gary Goodwin.
